Lachung

Lachung is a scenic mountain village located close to the Tibetan border, in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim and it’s approx 125 km from the capital Gangtok. It’s divided by the river La Chung which literally means small pass. The village is home to the 19th century Buddhist Lachung Monastery, surrounded by apple orchards. Most of the inhabitants are of Lepcha and Tibetan descent hence has a strong Tibetan influence on their lifestyle, culture, food and arts. Lachung is also a base camp for the Rhododendron valley trek. All this makes it a must-visit for a scenic and offbeat experience.
